PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Deputy Governor of West Java Erwan Setiawan saw off participants of the 2026 West Java Province Free Homecoming program at Leuwipanjang Terminal, Bandung City, Friday (13/3/2026).
This program involved 3,000 travelers traveling to various destinations on 74 buses. 2,500 participants were funded by the West Java Provincial Budget, while the remaining 500 were facilitated by Jasa Raharja. The number of buses included an additional 10 buses from Jasa Raharja.
Erwan said the free homecoming program was designed to help people return to their hometowns safely and reduce the risk of traffic accidents during the homecoming season.
"Through this free homecoming program, we want to ensure the safety of residents because we see that there are still many accidents during the homecoming period, especially for those using two-wheeled vehicles," he said.
He said that during the several free homecoming programs, all participants were able to reach their hometowns safely without any unwanted incidents.
"Thank God, in the several free homecoming trips we've organized, there have been no accidents. All participants arrived home safely and were able to reunite with their families," said Erwan.
On that occasion, Erwan also reminded bus drivers to prioritize safety during the trip and not to push themselves if they feel tired.
"Passenger safety is paramount. If the driver feels tired, please rest or take a replacement; don't push yourself," he said.
In addition to improving travel safety, the free homecoming program is also expected to ease the financial burden on people who want to return to their hometowns for Eid al-Fitr, especially for families traveling with a large number of members.
