PORTALJABAR, WEST BANDUNG REGENCY - The West Java Provincial Government is targeting the establishment of all 3,600 Red and White Village/Sub-district Cooperatives (KDKMP) in the West Java region to be completed by the end of July 2026, in accordance with the direction of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto.

West Java Deputy Governor Erwan Setiawan hopes that the cooperative will become a service center for community needs at the village and sub-district levels.

In this way, it is easier for people to obtain their daily basic needs, especially food and energy.

"So in the future, there will be no more reasons for people to have difficulty getting LPG gas, difficulty buying rice and so on," he said while attending the online launch of 1,061 Red and White Village/Sub-district Cooperative Points (KDKMP) in the East Java and Central Java regions, which was inaugurated by the President of the Republic of Indonesia online at the KDKMP in Cilame Village Perum, West Bandung Regency, Saturday (16/5/2026).

Meanwhile, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto in his remarks called the inauguration of the operationalization of 1,061 cooperatives a major step that has not necessarily been taken by other countries.

He explained that the cooperative that was inaugurated was not just a concept, but had complete infrastructure and operational systems.

"The building is there, the warehouse is there, the system is there, the goods are there, the officers are there, the logistical elements are there, there are trucks, there are pick-ups, there are three-wheeled vehicles," he said.

The President also appreciated the speed of cooperative development, which he said was successfully realized in less than a year.

"In seven months, we can operate 1,061 cooperatives," he said.

Prabowo added that, based on the Coordinating Minister for Food's report, currently more than 9,000 cooperatives are physically ready to operate in various regions of Indonesia.

He believes that this achievement is proof that the Indonesian nation is able to stand on equal footing with other countries and is no longer looked down upon.

"We succeeded. Ensuring food security for 280 million people is no easy task," he stressed.
