PORTALJABAR, BOGOR REGENCY - West Java Deputy Governor Erwan Setiawan urged universities to seriously prepare for their students' futures. Universities should not simply produce graduates without considering their futures after graduation.

Erwan made this statement when he was inaugurated as Chairman of the Daily Advisory Board (BPH) of Muhammadiyah Bogor Raya University (UMBARA) for the 2025-2029 period. The inauguration took place at the UMBARA Campus 1 Hall in Leuwiliang, Bogor Regency, on Monday (January 19, 2026).

Universities, said Erwan, must be able to guarantee that their graduates will get jobs after graduation.

"We don't want our alumni to be unemployed after graduation. We need to ensure they find work, and we need to prepare for this well in advance," Erwan said.

Universities also need to ensure their alumni become outstanding individuals in various fields. Erwan encouraged UMBARA to play a role in developing human resources and becoming a center for developing future leaders.

"I'm confident that future Indonesian leaders will emerge from UMBARA. God willing, we seniors will guide them before our terms are over," said Erwan.

Chairman of the Muhammadiyah Central Leadership Prof. Syafiq A. Mughni expressed his appreciation and congratulations to Erwan Setiawan on his new mandate as Chairman of BPH UMBARA.

He said, as a young university, UMBARA has shown significant development.

"UMBARA is indeed a young university, but its dynamism is very palpable. God willing, in the future, it will become a leading university, on par with other universities," he said.

According to Syafiq, UMBARA's progress is inseparable from the support of various parties, including the community, government, and stakeholders. Furthermore, UMBARA's progress is strengthened by Muhammadiyah's culture, which places education at the heart of the movement.
