PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Deputy Governor of West Java Erwan Setiawan encouraged the younger generation to enrich their knowledge in the fields of corporate law and artificial intelligence technology.

Because, almost every aspect of economic activity such as establishing start-ups, managing companies, investing and digital transactions intersect with legal regulations.

Understanding corporate law is not only needed by lawyers or law students, but also by all generations of young aspiring professionals in various fields.

Erwan conveyed this in front of hundreds of participants of the Corporate Law Workshop for Beginners and Generation Artificial Intelligence, which was held by the BEM of Pasundan University, at the Jayakarta Hotel, Bandung, Tuesday (29/4/2025).

"Corporate law is an important pillar in the modern business world in the current digitalization era and must be understood by the younger generation, not just lawyers," he said.

Erwan said that a good understanding of corporate law helps ensure that business activities are in accordance with regulations, transparently and ethically. This will create a healthy and sustainable business climate.

In addition, Erwan continued, government regulations also continue to develop to regulate modern business activities. Including regulating capital, consumer protection, intellectual property rights, and healthy business competition.

"If the younger generation masters the basics of corporate law, then the business innovations created can run smoothly because they are supported by management that complies with the law," he said.

In addition to understanding corporate law, artificial intelligence technology also needs to be understood because it changes the way we work and interact.

Erwan said, the development of AI presents new opportunities and challenges, including in the legal and corporate realms. For example, the use of AI in the industrial world is considered to be able to increase the efficiency and productivity of companies.

However, it also raises many legal questions such as what legal responsibility is there if an error is made by the AI system.

"These are all examples of modern dilemmas that stakeholders need to think about. Including the younger generation of prospective legal practitioners and business people," said Erwan.

The Corporate Law Workshop for Beginners and Generation Artificial Intelligence was attended by final semester law students from private universities in Bandung such as Unpas, Indonesian Education University, UIN Sunan Gunung Djati, Computer University, Langlangbuana University, and Open University.
