Deputy Governor Erwan Setiawan Supports Acceleration of Data Collection of Persons with Disabilities

PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Representatives of people with disabilities from various disability organizations conveyed a number of issues in a direct audience with the Deputy Governor of West Java Erwan Setiawan at Gedung Sate, Bandung City, Tuesday (15/4/2025).

"I appreciate a number of organizations for people with disabilities who have conveyed the problems they face. They also encourage related agencies to immediately realize their aspirations," said Erwan Setiawan.

He also appreciated the related parties who attended the audience, including the Population and Civil Registration Service and the Health Service.

"The point is that they convey the realization of Law Number 8 of 2016 Article 22 Letters a, b, and c, regarding the rights of people with disabilities to be registered as residents with disabilities in population registration and civil registration activities, to obtain population documents, and disability cards," he explained.

In addition, Erwan assessed the importance of accurate data on people with disabilities in West Java for recording and encouraging the issuance of disability cards to improve the welfare and empowerment of people with disabilities.

On the same occasion, Director of BILiC (Bandung Independent Living Center) Zulhamka Julianto Kadir stated that non-profit disability organizations together with disability organizations from various disabilities domiciled in Greater Bandung and the scope of West Java had an audience with Deputy Governor Erwan Setiawan.

He hopes that after the audience, the Deputy Governor of West Java will be more concerned about people with disabilities regarding the fulfillment, respect, and protection of disability rights.

Zulhamka also expressed his gratitude to the West Java Provincial Government for listening to and recording the complaints, aspirations and hopes of groups of people with disabilities.

"It is hoped that the data collection of people with disabilities will be accelerated, and the rights of people with disabilities as citizens will be fulfilled," he said.
