PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Deputy Governor of West Java, Erwan Setiawan, invited all elements of the nation to continue to live the values of Pancasila in everyday life as a foundation for national unity and world peace.

This was conveyed by Erwan when he was the ceremony instructor at the 2026 Pancasila Birth Day Commemoration at the West Java Province Level at the Wirotama Field, Infantry Weaponry Center (Pussenif), Bandung City, Monday (1/6/2026).

"The theme for the 2026 Pancasila Birth Day Commemoration is 'Pancasila Unites the Nation, the Foundation of World Peace.' This theme emphasizes that the noble values of Pancasila are not only relevant for maintaining the integrity of the Indonesian nation but also provide the answer to creating lasting world peace," Erwan said in his remarks.

According to him, Pancasila has proven to be a guiding light for the Indonesian nation in facing the various challenges of the times. Amidst global uncertainty, the threat of social fragmentation, technological disruption, and global geopolitical dynamics, Indonesia remains able to stand strong as a nation united in diversity.

"Pancasila is our moral anchor in facing global turbulence. With more than 17,000 islands and hundreds of ethnicities, Indonesia is a living example of how diversity can be united under one national bond," he said.

Erwan emphasized that Indonesia is not merely a spectator in international affairs. As mandated by the Preamble to the 1945 Constitution, Indonesia has a responsibility to participate in maintaining a world order based on freedom, eternal peace, and social justice.

"Pancasila is the foundation of our free and active foreign policy," he said.

He said the values of deliberation and consensus contained in Pancasila are diplomatic instruments that the world desperately needs today to bridge differences and end various conflicts.

"The contribution of Indonesian peacekeeping forces under the UN flag, Indonesia's role in mediating regional conflicts, and its consistency in advocating justice for colonized nations are the embodiment of the second principle, namely Just and Civilized Humanity," he said.

On that occasion, Erwan also emphasized that economic and technological progress must be accompanied by a strong moral compass. Therefore, he urged the younger generation to make Pancasila a living ideology.

"Don't let the noble values of Pancasila become mere decoration on office walls or mere text in history books. Pancasila must be present in every action and decision we make," he stressed.

Erwan also advised that every public policy taken must always be based on social justice, guarantee the rights of the people, and provide protection to groups most in need.

"Let us reaffirm our commitment to nationalism. Let us show the world that Indonesia is a great nation that upholds religiosity, a spirit of unity, and humanitarian values. As long as Indonesian blood flows in our veins, Pancasila will always live in every pulse of our nation's children," he concluded.
