PORTALJABAR, WEST BANDUNG REGENCY - West Java Deputy Governor Erwan Setiawan stated that the search for landslide victims still missing in Pasirlangu Village, Cisarua District, West Bandung Regency, is ongoing. The search involves various agencies, including Basarnas (National Search and Rescue Agency), the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB), the Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD), the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the Indonesian National Police (Polri), and volunteers.

"We are currently continuing our work. All elements are on the ground to search for any victims who are still missing. God willing, with favorable weather, the search can continue as efficiently as possible," said Erwan Setiawan while inspecting the landslide-affected area in Pasirlangu Village on Sunday (January 25, 2026).

In addition to emergency response, Erwan emphasized the commitment of the West Java Provincial Government (Pemda) to take firm action against violations of land conversion which are suspected to be one of the causes of the landslide in Pasirlangu Village.

He emphasized that the area is Perhutani land which should function as a forest, not for agricultural activities.

"This is forest land, not agricultural land. We will restore it to its original function, which is forest," he stressed.

Regarding affected residents, Erwan stated that the government will immediately prepare relocations to truly safe locations. The relocation locations will be determined through a joint study with various parties.

"Relocations must not be to risky areas. We will determine safe locations that are not too far from the residents' living areas. Safety is our top priority," he explained.

The West Java Provincial Government also appreciates the role of all parties who continue to provide support to affected residents, including trauma recovery services for residents psychologically affected by the landslide.

Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK), Pratikno, also attended the visit. He emphasized the importance of providing temporary and permanent housing for affected residents to prevent prolonged stays in evacuation centers.

"If permanent housing is possible immediately, that's preferable. However, if it takes time, temporary housing is crucial so residents can return to normal life with their families and reduce psychological stress," said Pratikno.

He also emphasized that disaster management is not only limited to restoring the original conditions, but must also be a momentum to build more resilient regions, both in terms of the environment, economy, education, and infrastructure.

"This disaster should be a lesson. We must not only rebuild, but build back better and safer," he added.
