PORTALJABAR, DISTRICT. GARUT - Deputy Regent of Garut, dr. Helmi Budiman, together with the Chairman of the Garut Regency National Amil Zakat Agency (BAZNAS), Abdullah Effendi, Monday (12/11/2023), handed over humanitarian aid from the people of Garut Regency to the Palestinian people. The handover of this aid was carried out at the BAZNAS RI Office.

Deputy Regent of Garut, dr. Helmi Budiman, said that his visit to BAZNAS RI was aimed at conveying alms donations from the people of Garut to support the Palestinian people. He conveyed the trust of the government and people of Garut in BAZNAS as the official institution appointed to distribute aid.

"It is also an institution that can directly deliver the assistance that the Palestinian people hope for," he said.

Helmi explained that the collection of funds had started since the cruel actions against Palestine, especially in the last month, so that around IDR 1 billion had been collected.

The Deputy Regent of Garut also invited the people of Garut to continue to help through prayers and donations to the Palestinian people who are facing difficulties due to acts of genocide by Israel. He appealed to the people of Garut to channel their donations through BAZNAS.

"Therefore, I appeal to the people of Garut to continue to help the Palestinian people affected by the war today," he said.

Nadratuzzaman Hosen, Chairman of BAZNAS RI, expressed high appreciation to the Indonesian people, especially Garut Regency, for their concern and support for the Palestinian people. Even though he had never met him in person, he saw the high level of empathy and humanity of the Indonesian people.

"This is actually a high level of faith, so it is a reflection of the Indonesian people helping Palestinians who are being oppressed by Israeli Zionists, this is a reflection of our society, apart from helping, its faith is also getting higher," he said.

He hopes that people will always love the Palestinian people, and that the Palestinian people can receive assistance in the form of zakat and alms funds sent by the Indonesian people.

"Hopefully their prayers will also be answered, so that we can become a nation blessed by Allah and the Indonesian economy will grow and develop well," he said.

BAZNAS RI, as an official aid distribution agency, hopes that assistance from the Indonesian people can ease the burden on the Palestinian people who are experiencing difficulties due to the conflict. Through this humanitarian action, it is hoped that solidarity and concern for others can continue to grow and develop in society. (rdp*)
