PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Deputy Mayor of Bandung, Alfath Fadhillah Ridwannur, won the award as the Best 1 Putra Reading Ambassador of West Java Province in 2024 which was held at the Graha Pustaloka Hall, Thursday, December 5, 2024.

The 2024 West Java Reading Ambassador Election was held with the theme "Literacy Pioneers, Drivers of Change for Literate West Java".

During the previous two days, namely on December 3-5, 2024, the participants underwent a quarantine period which included a series of activities and strict selection.

This achievement signifies Alfath's commitment to advancing literacy and the world of reading in West Java, as well as making a real contribution to forming a literate young generation.

"Duta Baca is here to improve literacy so that young people in West Java, especially in Bandung City, can become inspiring pioneers. Through literacy, someone will understand more about what they will face," said Alfath.

"Understanding and knowledge must be fostered through literacy. Reading is cool, and we will be cool by reading. Because by reading we can have broad insights. I hope literacy can be a solution to various existing problems," he continued.

The selection of the West Java Reading Ambassadors not only focuses on the participants' language and literacy skills, but also on their insights into the world of education, digital literacy, and their ability to inspire people to love books and reading.

Participants underwent a series of tests and evaluations involving assessments by competent judges in the field of literacy.

Alfath, who was selected as the Best 1 Putra, explained his program, Alir Sehati (Healthy Literacy Action for a Stunting-Responding Generation). In his speech, he emphasized the importance of nutritional and health literacy, so that future generations can become pioneers who will end stunting in West Java, especially in the city of Bandung.

Alfath is also committed to continuing to introduce the world of reading to the wider community, as well as being an agent of change in increasing interest in reading in West Java.

Through this event, it is hoped that Reading Ambassadors will be created who not only have high literacy skills, but can also inspire the younger generation to continue to love and improve their reading interest, making West Java an increasingly literate province.
