PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - A warm and family atmosphere was seen in the courtyard and main room of the Buahbatu Grand Mosque, Bandung City, Friday (11/4/2025).
The atmosphere was very much felt when hundreds of residents from various corners gathered for the Grand Silaturahmi event entitled "Residents' Gathering with Ulama and Umara".
This event was a special moment because it was attended directly by the Deputy Mayor of Bandung, Erwin.
He also gave a sermon and explained in depth the meaning of halalbihalal.
In his sermon, Erwin said that halalbihalal is an important part of perfecting Ramadan worship.
For the whole month, Muslims perform fasting and strengthen their relationship with Allah (habluminallah).
So after Ramadan, it is time to improve relationships with fellow human beings (habluminannas) through halalbihalal.
"This Halalbihalal is not just a culture or Lebaran custom. This is a moment for cleansing the heart. Whoever forgives the mistakes of others, Allah promises a reward of heaven as wide as the sky and the earth," he said.
Erwin explained that the term halalbihalal was first coined by KH Wahab Hasbullah, a great cleric of Nahdlatul Ulama, as a way to restore unity among Muslims after the conflict.
"So the meaning is not only social, but spiritual. This is a way to gain Allah's forgiveness by forgiving others," he said.
In a reflective moment, Erwin recounted an important event that occurred after the Eid prayer during the time of the Prophet.
"After the Eid prayer, the Prophet suddenly said amen three times. The companions asked, and the Prophet replied that the Angel Gabriel came to whisper three prayers that must be said amen," he said.
The three groups whose prayers are not accepted are: First, children who are disobedient to their parents, because Allah's pleasure depends on the pleasure of their parents.
Second, a wife who is disobedient to her husband, because obeying her husband is part of obeying Allah.
Third, Muslims who do not forgive their fellow Muslims, because Islam highly values brotherhood and brotherhood.
"This is a big lesson for all of us. Have we apologized before fasting to our parents? To our partners? To neighbors we may have offended?" he said.
Closing his sermon, Erwin invited all attendees to make halalbihalal a moment to cleanse the soul, open the door to forgiveness, and break the chain of revenge.
"Abandon envy, envy and revenge. Be a forgiving person, because that is the characteristic of a true believer," he said.
The event was then continued with an open dialogue between the community, religious leaders, and the Deputy Mayor. Residents were given the opportunity to convey their aspirations, questions, and hopes for the city of Bandung in the future.
