PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Deputy Mayor of Bandung Erwin delivered a strong message to all students in Bandung City. This was conveyed after attending the commemoration of National Education Day (Hardiknas) 2025 at the West Java level at Rindam III/Siliwangi, Bandung City, Friday (2/5/2025).
He said that all students in Bandung City are required to instill five life awarenesses as the foundation for character formation of the future young generation.
"Hardiknas must be a motivation, inspiration, and strength to produce pious and righteous children, and have balanced intellectual, spiritual, and emotional intelligence," he said.
According to him, the five awarenesses include:
- Al-Wa'yu ad-Dini: Religious awareness
- Al-Wa'yu al-Ilmi: Awareness of seeking knowledge
- Al-Wa'yu al-Wathani: Awareness of love for the homeland, especially the city of Bandung
- Al-Wa'yu al-Ijtima'i: Awareness of socializing and being in society
- Al-Wa'yu ad-Dzomi: Organizational awareness
Erwin said that organizational awareness is very important because through organizations, students' leadership character can be formed from an early age.
"God willing, with these five awarenesses, children can be successful in this world and the hereafter," he said.
He also invited teachers to teach with full sincerity.
"Knowledge that is taught sincerely will be useful knowledge, even after we die," he said.
This statement is in line with the remarks of the Governor of West Java, Dedi Mulyadi, at the National Education Day commemoration ceremony.
KDM - Dedi Mulyadi's nickname - encourages educational transformation in West Java based on the principle of Gerbang Waluya (gate of perfection and glory) which consists of five values: Cageur, Bageur, Bener, Pinter, and Singer.
Both of them highlighted that the challenges for today's students are not only about academic achievement, but also mental, moral and social readiness amidst increasingly tight global competition.
"West Java children must become fighters, not only competing with their classmates, but also with students from China, Japan, Germany, and even Iran," said KDM.
Through this Hardiknas momentum, the City Government (Pemkot) and the West Java Provincial Government called for the importance of collaboration between students, teachers, parents, and all elements of society to create education that is empowering, character-based, and based on the noble values of the nation's culture.
