PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Deputy Mayor of Bandung, Erwin provided inspirational motivation to hundreds of new students of Sangga Buana University in the Introduction to Campus Life for New Students (PKKMB) activity for the 2025/2026 academic year which was held at the Sangga Buana University Campus, Saturday, October 11, 2025.

In his remarks, Erwin stated that students' primary purpose in coming to campus was to seek knowledge. He quoted the Prophet Muhammad's saying, "Seeking knowledge is an obligation for every Muslim."

"Of course, your parents sent you to study here with a goal in mind: to become educated people. You came here to seek knowledge," Erwin said to the new students.

According to him, a student's success is not only measured by academic ability alone, but also by spiritual and emotional intelligence.

"College students are no longer high school students. You must learn to think maturely. The Prophet Muhammad taught, 'At-ta'ani min ar-Rahman, wal 'ajlah min ash-syaiton.' Caution comes from Allah, while haste comes from Satan," he said.

Erwin then introduced five main awarenesses that students must have to achieve success, namely religious awareness, awareness of seeking knowledge, awareness of nationality and love for alma mater, social awareness, and awareness of organization.

He explained that these five values are the foundation for building a superior, resilient, and characterful generation.

"You're now students, so don't isolate yourself. You must socialize, express your opinions, and join organizations. If you practice these five principles, I'm sure you will be successful in this world and the hereafter," he said.

On that occasion, Erwin encouraged students to strengthen their spirituality as a foundation for success in life. He reminded them to always maintain their prayers and prostrate themselves frequently.

"Improve your prayers and Allah will improve your life. Prostrate often, and God willing, many of your dreams will come true," Erwin advised.

Furthermore, Erwin encouraged students to love the campus and uphold the values of togetherness. He hoped that Sangga Buana University graduates would become outstanding and inclusive individuals.

"We don't look at ethnicity, religion, or background. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) united all people in Medina. Sangga Buana students must also be an open and tolerant generation," he said. (Bandung City Communications and Information Office/Rani)
