PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Mayor of Bandung, Muhammad Farhan handed over the sacrificial cow to the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, after the Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijriah prayer at the Al-Ukhuwah Mosque, Wednesday (27/5/2026).
The sacrificial cow weighed 1,250 kilograms, or 1.25 tons. It originated from Central Java and was raised in the Ujungberung area of Bandung.
"Alhamdulillah, today after Eid prayers at the Al-Ukhuwah Mosque, we together handed over the sacrificial cow from the President of the Republic of Indonesia," said Farhan.
He explained that the cow was the result of a strict selection process before finally being chosen as the sacrificial animal for the President of the Republic of Indonesia for the City of Bandung.
"This is the chosen one of the six we offered," he said.
Farhan ensured that the Indonesian President's sacrificial cow was healthy and fit for slaughter after undergoing a thorough animal health examination.
Meanwhile, cattle breeders said the sacrificial animal was three years old and weighed 1,250 kilograms.
The plan is for the sacrificial cow named "Sheva" to be slaughtered at the Ciroyom Slaughterhouse (RPH) and the meat distributed to the mustahik in Bandung City on the same day.
Farhan said that the naming of the cow did not come from a special request from the President of the Republic of Indonesia, but was given by the breeders and the team in the field.
"Mr. Prabowo tasked the regional government with finding candidates to nominate. So, we nominated six candidates, and this one was chosen," he said.
According to Farhan, the momentum of Eid al-Adha also serves as a reminder of the importance of the spirit of sharing and sacrifice for society.
"God willing, it will be distributed to those who mustahik properly and correctly," he said. (Bandung City Communications and Information Office/rka)
