PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Mayor of Bandung, Muhammad Farhan, asked all civil servants (ASN) of the Bandung City Government to maintain high ethical standards in carrying out their duties as public servants.

Farhan made this statement in response to information regarding the dismissal of ASN who were suspected of committing moral and ethical violations.

Farhan said that he regularly receives reports regarding various violations committed by ASN within the Bandung City Government.

Every violation first goes through a guidance process before the government takes further steps.

"As mayor, I regularly receive updates on moral and ethical violations committed by Bandung City civil servants," Farhan said on Thursday (10/15/2026).

According to him, dismissal is not a step that is immediately taken when a civil servant commits a violation.

The government first provides the opportunity to carry out repairs, coaching and rehabilitation in accordance with applicable provisions.

"The termination process isn't a one-time operation, it's not. But improvements do need to be made," he said.

However, if after receiving guidance and the opportunity to improve themselves, violations occur again, the government can take firm action in accordance with the regulations.

Farhan said that there were a number of similar cases that had resulted in the dismissal of ASN.

He stated that the decision was taken after the coaching process and opportunities for improvement had been provided.

"If it turns out that there is a repeat, then there is no more tolerance, so it will be stopped," he said.

Farhan reminded that ASN are still human beings who are not free from shortcomings.

However, the position of ASN as public officials makes them have greater moral and ethical responsibilities because their behavior is of public concern.

"To all civil servants, after all, they are not angels; they are human too. Of course, they have shortcomings. However, these civil servants are public officials who are respected by the public and therefore must have higher ethical standards than average," he said.

He hopes that all Bandung City Government civil servants will make ethics and integrity an important part of carrying out their duties, so that public trust in the government is maintained.

"Civil servants have high ethical standards for the common good," he said. (Bandung City Communications and Information Service/rka)
