PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Government (Pemkot) recorded accelerated infrastructure development during the one year of Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan's leadership by building 4,106 neighborhood street lighting points, repairing 29.52 kilometers of roads, arranging 23.5 kilometers of overhead cables, and repairing around 2,100 uninhabitable houses throughout 2025 to early 2026.
The infrastructure program is part of the Bandung Utama vision (Superior, Open, Trustworthy, Advanced, and Religious) in the Advanced pillar to provide a safer, more comfortable, and more livable city for residents.
The Bandung City Transportation Agency built 501 Public Street Lighting poles with a total of 4,106 Neighborhood Street Lighting points targeting main roads, densely populated residential areas, and narrow alleys that previously had minimal lighting.
A total of 88 poles with 742 points of Environmental Street Lighting came from the recess proposal of the Bandung City Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD), while 413 poles with 3,364 points came from the Development Planning Conference (Musrenbang).
The Bandung City Government is also running a Street Lighting program for narrow alleys under two meters with a pilot phase in eight locations using 120 poles.
The Water Resources and Highways Agency repaired 29.52 kilometers of roads in the 2025 budget year, covering 266 sections.
Improvements were made to priority sections with high mobility, such as Jalan Ir. H. Juanda, Batu Nunggal, Pahlawan, and Cemara, to facilitate economic activity and public movement.
The Bandung City Government noted that the achievement of road stability is now approaching 90 percent, so that the condition of road infrastructure increasingly supports the community's social and economic activities.
The Bandung City Government is also rehabilitating 14,657 meters of existing drainage and building 1,606 meters of new drainage, out of a target of 3,928 meters by October 2025, to reduce flooding in flood-prone areas.
The drainage program focuses on areas that frequently experience flooding, such as Jalan Pacuan Kuda, Arcamanik Endah, Sukapura, Terusan Jakarta, Golf Raya, Panghegar, Cingised, Leuwipanjang, Ir. H. Juanda, and Siliwangi.
The Bandung City Government is revitalizing four large public spaces throughout 2025, namely the Elderly Park, Bandung City Square, Babakan Siliwangi City Forest, and the area under the Pasupati Bridge.
The development includes elderly-friendly facilities, disability-friendly pathways, additional lighting, improved toilets and prayer rooms, and sports areas such as futsal, basketball, and a children's bicycle track under the Pasupati Bridge.
One of the strategic projects that has been operational since mid-December 2025 is the Nurtanio Flyover with a value of around IDR 62 billion and a 550-meter-long handling.
The flyover is projected to reduce vehicle travel time, reduce level crossing congestion, and increase train travel efficiency.
In the housing sector, the Housing and Settlement Agency completed 1,785 units of Uninhabitable Houses by December 1, 2025, or 100 percent of the budget target.
Support from the central government for self-help housing stimulus assistance of 111 units and corporate social responsibility programs has encouraged the total repair of uninhabitable houses to reach around 2,100 units with assistance worth Rp25 million per house.
The Bandung City Government is targeting the gradual redevelopment of 9,000 uninhabitable housing units and 280 hectares of slum areas by 2029.
Urban planning will also involve tidying up and lowering overhead cables at 47 locations from 2025 to January 2026, with a total length of approximately 23.5 kilometers.
On the Jalan Buah Batu section, the Bandung City Government cleared around 14 tons of overhead cables by lowering 30 cable lines from around 700 to nearly 1,000 poles along 3.4 kilometers.
The Bandung City Government noted that green open space currently reaches 12.56 percent or around 2,101.81 hectares and continues to be increased through land optimization, city park development, and urban forest development.
This achievement shows that the infrastructure development of Bandung City is moving in a more measured and equitable manner, so that residents experience a brighter, more organized, safer, and more comfortable city for activities.
