PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Deputy Minister of Creative Economy/Deputy Head of the Creative Economy Agency (Wamenekraf) Irene Umar appreciates the innovation of Bandung City which continues to develop into an international-scale creative city.
This can be seen from several creative spaces that are growing and continuing to gather creative ecosystems with many talents who are able to compete on the international stage.
So far, the city of Bandung has continued to spread inspiration and encourage sustainable impacts for creative economy actors.
Irene said that the city of Bandung has succeeded in building a solid creative economic ecosystem.
"I see that there is already a spirit of collaboration in the city of Bandung. From here, we will see what the roadmap is like to help develop the creative economy in each region," he said at a discussion entitled Bandung Creative City of Design, at the Bandung Creative Hub, Saturday (11/5/2025)
"We must also appreciate the concept of Bandung City of Design which continues to innovate in developing the creative economy from local to regional to national to international levels," he said.
Irene praised the success of Bandung City which has had value, vision, personality, and positioning as a creative city since 2017 and has been recognized by UNESCO for Design Thinking for Government.
Irene also appreciated The Hallway Space at Kosambi Market and Tab Space Jalan Rambutan which she had visited.
Both places have become multifunctional creative spaces so that creative economy products are more easily accessible to all groups.
These places make it easier for people to access local products such as fashion, culinary, and works of art that are now able to penetrate the global market.
"Bandung has produced many creative economy players who have succeeded in the international arena. It remains to be seen how we encourage their mindset and fighting spirit, including collaboration with content creators to expand the reach of local products," he said.
According to him, creative industry players only need to hone their mindset and fighting spirit and collaborate with content creators who act as mouthpieces so that local products are increasingly known and purchased. This is in line with the Ministry of Creative Economy which created an association for content creators.
Not only that, the potential of Bandung City as a Creative City can be seen from the creative economic ecosystem which has transformed into a laboratory of expression.
Many universities also have regular event publications and creative spaces that allow professional associations to record the extent to which the creative economy sector has contributed to the regional economy.
Head of the Bandung City Culture and Tourism Office, Arief Syaifudin, hopes that the synergy between the central and regional governments and the creative economy community will continue to be closely linked.
"With good collaboration, we can ensure that the creative economy has a broad impact on society," he said.
Also attending were Deputy 2 for Cultural Creativity and Design of the Ministry of Creative Economy, Yuke Sri Rahayu, as well as representatives from various creative communities and associations in Bandung.
