PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The implementation of Friday Car Free or Vehicle Free Day every Friday at Bandung City Hall is appreciated by the community. A number of residents seemed comfortable exercising, from jogging, gymnastics, to cycling in the Bandung City Hall area.
One of the residents, Dani, appreciated the Bandung City Government's steps to implement Friday Car Free. According to him, the City Hall environment feels more beautiful and comfortable, especially for those who want to exercise.
"I really support this Friday Car Free. Moreover, City Hall is open to the public. So it's good for exercising. Moreover, the atmosphere is very beautiful," he said while exercising at City Hall, Friday (31/5/2024).
He hopes that this Friday Car Free can continue to be implemented by the Bandung City Regional Government. Apart from that, he also hopes that this activity can also be carried out in other government environments.
"The hope is that the people of Bandung city will know the name of the city hall. It turns out that in the area they can exercise," he said.
In line with Dani, another resident, Iwan, supports the implementation of Friday Car Free at Bandung City Hall. He and dozens of his colleagues from the Dispora Bicycle Community deliberately came to the city hall to enjoy the beautiful atmosphere and cycling.
"I really support it because this is one of the residents' hopes. The City Hall can be enjoyed by residents for sports comfortably," he said.
He said that there are many benefits that can be felt by having Friday Car Free. Starting from reducing the amount of vehicle pollution, to making the atmosphere cooler.
"Usually there are lots of vehicles. Now it looks nice. You can ask other members. Three weeks later the atmosphere is more beautiful and comfortable," he said.
"Hopefully this can also be implemented in other offices because this is really positive for us and the city of Bandung has reduced pollution a little per day," he added.
Meanwhile, Daily Executive (Plh) Regional Secretary for Bandun City, Hikmat Ginanjar, said that the implementation of Friday Car Free at Bandung City Hall had been running since three weeks ago and was running smoothly and conducively.
He said that employees with offices at city hall used public transportation, some also cycled and walked. The Bandung City Government has also provided shuttle vehicles at several locations for employees.
Hikmat also admitted that he would continue to evaluate the implementation of Friday Car Free to make it better.
"I think it will be an evaluation material for us. Every week, we will fix things that are obstacles or deficiencies," he said.
"We often remind employees of the mechanism. So that employees can understand and comply with all of this," he added.
According to him, the most important thing is that the vehicle-free Bandung City Hall area can be enjoyed by employees and the public.
"People can enjoy good oxygen, exercise and reduce pollution. Of course, we will also evaluate those who violate," said Hikmat. (Diskominfo Bandung City/Revo)
