PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Government is increasing its vigilance against potential street crimes, which are considered to have an organized pattern and could disrupt the city's security stability.

The Mayor of Bandung, Muhammad Farhan, expressed his concern about the phenomenon of criminal acts such as muggings, which are suspected of not being isolated.

"I'm concerned that this isn't just ordinary crime, but rather a pattern that points to an attempt to create a sense of insecurity in the community," he said at Bandung City Hall on Monday (May 4, 2026).

According to him, this condition must be seriously anticipated by strengthening cross-sector coordination, especially with the police.

The Bandung City Government, Farhan continued, has established close synergy with the police to take preventive and enforcement measures in a measured manner.

In addition, community-based approaches such as strengthening neighborhood watch systems are also continuously encouraged as part of the neighborhood security system.

"We want to ensure that people feel safe in their activities. This is a shared responsibility," he stressed.

He also urged the public to remain vigilant and actively report any potential security disturbances in their respective neighborhoods.

With these measures, the Bandung City Government is optimistic that security stability can be maintained amidst various evolving dynamics. (Bandung City Communications and Information Office/rka)
