PORTALJABAR, DISTRICT. SUMEDANG - Acting Governor of West Java Bey Machmudin appointed one hundred Integrity Ambassadors to create an anti-corruption young generation.
One hundred Integrity Ambassadors were inaugurated in a program entitled 'West Java Youth Camp World Anti-Corruption Day 2023' which took place at Kiarapayung Campground, Sumedang Regency, Sunday (12/11/2023).
The Integrity Ambassadors all come from millennial circles in districts and cities and are still in high school or equivalent.
Integrity Ambassadors are tasked with being role models for their friends to work together to prevent the seeds of corruption from developing from an early age.
To the one hundred Integrity Ambassadors who were appointed, Bey Machmudin advised that principles must be in line with attitudes and actions. Because the essence of integrity is not just words but actions that must match each other.
"Integrity is not just a word but an attitude of life that is reflected in daily actions," said Bey Machmudin.
One reflection of integrity is that ambassadors have a stable attitude and view towards something. Dare to say no even though there will be other people who don't like it.
"Don't be influenced to please friends, parents, teachers, with lies. But say what is the truth, say it in a good way," said Bey.
Bey further reminded young people not to be influenced to please friends, parents, teachers with lies.
"But tell me the truth. Say it in a good way," said Bey.
Bey believes that the Integrity Ambassadors who have been appointed have a high level of honesty so that they have the qualifications to carry out the special task of leading friends of the same age to prevent the seeds of corruption from developing into habits.
"I am sure that all those elected today are young people who are highly committed to the values of integrity and honesty," said Bey.
According to Bey, a nation's strength does not only depend on the competence and expertise of human resources. "More than that, competence without integrity is useless," he said.
Bey also asked the Integrity Ambassadors to maintain the enthusiasm to carry out their duties with full responsibility.
Bey reminded that corruption is an extraordinary crime that destroys the life of the nation, bankrupts the country, and makes people miserable.
Corruption also slows progress and hinders equitable development. Therefore, corruption must be eradicated from an early age at its roots.
"We must place corruption as an extraordinary crime that must be eradicated from its roots," said Bey.
It is known that the Indonesian Corruption Perception Index will reach 34 points in 2023 or a decrease of 4 points from the previous year. So this matter should be taken seriously by various parties, not only the government, but also all components of the nation, including the younger generation.
World Anti-Corruption Day is celebrated every December 9, but the enthusiasm and series of events have started before the peak of the commemoration.
