Singapore — The West Java Provincial Government promoted a strategy for developing Muslim-friendly tourism at the Halal In Travel Global Summit 2026 forum in Singapore (June 18, 2026) as an effort to attract more foreign tourists while expanding opportunities for international cooperation in the tourism sector.
Head of the West Java Tourism and Culture Office, Iendra Sofyan, representing West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi, explained the strategy for developing Muslim-friendly tourism through a 5A approach that includes administration, attractions, access, amenities, and advertising.
Iendra explained that this strategy is the basis for developing tourist destinations that provide comfort for Muslim tourists, starting from guaranteed service, easy access, to the availability of supporting facilities at various destinations.
The West Java Provincial Government also presents the Smiling West Java Muslim-Friendly Tourism Award as an encouragement for district and city governments to implement Muslim-friendly tourism standards in a sustainable manner.
These efforts have paid off with West Java achieving first place in the 2025 Indonesia Muslim Travel Index, strengthening the region's competitiveness in the Muslim-friendly tourism sector.
"West Java is one of the largest provinces in Indonesia. We have a population of 50 million, and around 67 percent are Muslim. Furthermore, we have many destinations, so we are optimizing this potential to develop Muslim-friendly tourism. We are mapping out what must be met for assessment, both from the government and other relevant stakeholders," said Iendra.
"Our strategy is the 5A's. First is administration, including licensing, to ensure tourists feel more comfortable. Next is attractions, as we have natural, cultural, and other potential. Third is access, as West Java has a long toll road network and is served by high-speed trains. Next are amenities or facilities that support Muslim tourists, and the final A is advertising as a promotional medium," he explained.
Iendra invited various countries in Asia to strengthen cooperation in promoting Muslim-friendly tourism to attract more tourists from various countries.
"We are committed and continuously striving to improve our services for both domestic and international tourists. I believe we must collaborate on promotion, as the majority of the population in Asia is Muslim. Therefore, we must make concerted efforts to attract and attract tourists from various countries," he said.
The Halal In Travel Global Summit is an international forum that brings together governments, industry players, academics, and experts to discuss developments, innovations, and opportunities for collaboration in developing Muslim-friendly tourism at the global level.
West Java's participation in the forum is expected to expand the promotion of regional tourism destinations, open international networks, and increase opportunities for gaining global recognition in the field of Muslim-friendly tourism.
