PORTALJABAR, CIAMIS REGENCY - Ciamis Regency Regional Secretary Andang Firman Triyadi officially opened the Youth Challenge BMX Competition 2026 Series I which took place at the Galuh Ciamis BMX Circuit, Sunday (27/9/2026).

The BMX championship was organized by the ICF Ciamis Regency in collaboration with YC BMX Yogyakarta. The event attracted 191 participants from various regions across Indonesia, ranging from preschool to teenage.

The opening of the championship was marked by a speech from the Ciamis Regional Secretary and encouragement that the competition should not only be a competition of speed and skill, but also a development space for young BMX athletes.

In his remarks, Andang expressed his appreciation and gratitude to all the committee members and sponsors who had supported the competition.

According to him, BMX competitions like this are important in providing opportunities for young athletes to hone their skills and gain experience competing at a broader level.

"Hopefully, this activity can become a platform to produce superior seeds, especially from Ciamis Regency, who will later be able to achieve success at the regional, national, and even higher levels," said Andang.

In addition to pursuing success, Andang reminded all participants to prioritize safety during the competition. BMX carries a high level of risk, so every rider is required to adhere to the rules and safety standards while on the track.

He also advised all participants to uphold sportsmanship. Competition, he said, is natural, but it must be conducted with fair play and respect for fellow participants.

"You can compete, but maintain sportsmanship. Uphold sportsmanship and maintain safety during the match," he advised.

On that occasion, Andang also touched on the implementation of the West Java Provincial Sports Week (Porprov) which is scheduled to take place from November 7 to 20, 2026. Ciamis Regency is one of the areas trusted to host the BMX sport.

The 2026 Youth Challenge BMX Competition momentum is expected to be part of the preparation and development of Ciamis BMX riders' abilities to face the West Java Porprov event.

Andang hopes that BMX athletes from Ciamis will be able to utilize various competitions as a means to improve their abilities so they can perform optimally and win medals at the upcoming Porprov.
