This was conveyed during the 2025 Grand Gathering of Al-Quran Education Teachers throughout Bandung City at the Al-Ukhuwah Mosque (10/4/2025).

Present at the event were Deputy Mayor of Bandung Erwin, Head of the Bandung City Ministry of Religious Affairs Office Abdurrahim, and Chair of the Regional Management Board of the Bandung City Al-Qur'an Education Communication Forum (FKPQ) Rida Rosida.

Erwin appreciates the spirit of the Quran teachers in eradicating illiteracy of the Quran in Bandung City. He called them the best people who are missed by heaven.

"We are rolling out the flagship program of Bandung Utama, one of which is the Gerakan Utama Mengaji to eradicate illiteracy of the Qur'an. These ngaji teachers are the spearhead in building a more religious society," he said.

In addition to the movement to eradicate illiteracy of the Qur'an, he said, the Bandung City Government will also build and support tahfidz houses and tahsin houses.

"Of course, yesterday, Alhamdulillah, we held a religious study in the village. This is to increase knowledge," he said.

He said the aim of the various programs was to change morals and improve the worship of the community, especially children in the city of Bandung.

For this reason, Erwin asked for the support of all Koran teachers in Bandung City to make the programs initiated by the Bandung City Government a success.

This program is also fully supported by the Bandung City Ministry of Religious Affairs. The Head of the Ministry of Religious Affairs Office, Abdurahim, stated that he is ready to synergize and collaborate with various mass organizations and institutions.

"We are ready to oversee and fully support the Mayor and Deputy Mayor's program. This is part of our duty in building a religious society," he said.

Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the Al-Quran Education Communication Forum (FKPQ), Rida Rosida, said that currently there are 720 Al-Quran education institutions in Bandung City with more than 18,000 active students.

The Koran teachers who are members of FKPQ are at the forefront of producing a Quranic generation from an early age.

"We are here to fight, to guide children aged 4-6 years and elementary school grades 1-2 so that they can read and write the Qur'an well," he said.

He emphasized that FKPQ is ready to support all programs to eradicate illiteracy of the Qur'an initiated by the Bandung City Government. (Bandung City Communication and Information Service/Fauziah)
