PORTALJABAR, DISTRICT. GARUT - The Garut Regency Regional Government (Pemdakab) held a Hearing Meeting to discuss the naming of new roads in the Garut Regency area. This event took place in the Regional Secretariat Meeting Room (Setda), Garut Regency, Tuesday (7/11/2023).

It is known that the provisions of Article 12 of Garut Regency Regional Regulation Number 7 of 2022 concerning Guidelines for Naming Streets and Public Facilities, state that the Regent, in determining the name or changing the name of roads and public facilities, must pay attention to the suggestions and opinions of stakeholders.

Regional Assistant I for Government and People's Welfare (Pemkesra) Garut Bambang Hafidz explained that apart from meetings, this activity also included outreach to sub-district heads and village heads whose areas would be affected by the road naming.

"Today we are carrying out outreach activities to sub-district heads and village heads regarding the naming of new roads, namely 27 roads that have new names, not changes," he said.

This meeting aims to enable sub-district heads and village heads to understand the process of naming roads in their area. Bambang revealed that the plan to name this road will be inaugurated on November 10.

"Yes, it is hoped that the results from this will be able to socialize the sub-district heads and village heads again to the community, from various elements, the previous elements have been carried out," he said.

Secretary of the Garut Regency Transportation Service (Dishub) Asep Jaelani explained that 27 roads in Garut Regency will be named after educational figures, heroes and scholars who have contributed to Garut Regency.

"We hope that with this outreach, the public will understand that Garut has 27 new street names, so that they are no longer familiar with streets that previously had no names but now have their own names," he said.
