PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Approaching and after Eid al-Fitr 1446H, it is certain that the spike in waste will be quite high in Bandung City.
In facing this, the Bandung City Government will be ready to ensure that waste is optimally controlled.
"The next two weeks will be threatened by the piling up of garbage, so our future solution will be to regulate transportation more strictly with regulations," said the Mayor of Bandung, Muhammad Farhan at the Bandung City Hall, Wednesday, March 26, 2025 evening.
Regarding this, Farhan said that this is also an anticipation and education for the community to manage waste from its source.
"So that people who cannot manage their waste will be turned back," he stressed.
The Bandung City Government also continues to strive to process waste using machines and other methods that are significant in management.
"Waste transportation is highly frequent, currently our waste management capacity is still limited to 1,200 tons per day, only 300 - 400 kg tons can be processed," he said.
For the rest, said Farhan, so that the community is able to implement the Reduce, Separate and Utilize (Kang Pisman) program.
"We hope the rest can be processed by the community through the Kang Pisman program. There are 400 RW, for example each RW is around 100 kg, that can add 4 tons of processing," he said.
Furthermore, he emphasized, Bandung City has a law enforcement regulation on waste. So the community must also care about waste management so as not to violate it.
"We have legal regulations on waste management. We will enforce the law on waste together with Forkopimda, the aim is to prevent residents from violating the law on waste," he said.
Apart from relying on the Gober team and garbage officers, Farhan also plans to involve volunteers.
"We do not only rely on Gober personnel and existing garbage officers, but involve volunteers," he said.
"In the next two weeks we will receive a high flow of homecoming travelers to Bandung City.
Plus the possibility of entertainment venues increasing the population which certainly increases waste," he added. (Bandung City Government Public Relations/rka)
