PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The flow of homecoming and tourist visits in West Java experienced a significant spike during the 2025 Eid Transportation period. Until the second day of Eid, Tuesday (1/4/2025) more than 11.8 million customers used train services, while the volume of vehicles on the main routes, including the Cikampek Toll Road, increased sharply.

To overcome the density, the West Java Provincial Government through the Transportation Agency together with the police have implemented traffic engineering, including the contraflow system in Cikampek and odd-even on the Puncak tourist route, Bogor.

In addition, tourist destinations such as the Cibodas Botanical Gardens in Cianjur, Tangkuban Perahu in Bandung, and Sindangkerta Beach in Tasikmalaya are starting to be crowded with visitors, marking the high mobility of people during the Eid holiday.

Secretary of the West Java Transportation Agency, Dhani Gumelar stated that the surge in homecoming and tourism traffic had been predicted in advance. Therefore, his party has prepared various strategies to maintain smooth traffic flow and ensure the safety and comfort of road users.

In the land transportation sector, the number of passengers at bus terminals has decreased. Terminal Type A recorded 18,332 passengers on March 31, 2025, a decrease of 27.15 percent compared to the previous day. A greater decrease occurred at Terminal Type B which only served 3,196 passengers, down 55.36 percent.

The movement of train passengers in several regions shows a diverse trend. In Daop I, the number of commuter passengers reached 21,951 people, a decrease of 12.65 percent. Meanwhile, in Daop II, the number of long-distance passengers decreased by 6.18 percent to 25,051 people.

However, local train services experienced a spike of up to 38.14 percent with a total of 58,811 passengers. In Daop III, there was an increase in the number of passengers by 16.44 percent to 13,228 people. For the Indonesia-China Fast Train (KCIC) service, 17,878 passengers were recorded, a decrease of 22.66 percent.

In the air sector, Kertajati Airport served 510 passengers, down 12.52 percent compared to the previous day. Meanwhile, at Nusawiru Airport, only 28 passengers were recorded with no flights the previous day.

The surge in vehicles also occurred on several main toll roads in West Java. The Cipularang Toll Road recorded an increase in incoming vehicles of 70.69 percent or 59,881 vehicles.

Meanwhile, the number of vehicles exiting increased by 69.68 percent or 42,134 vehicles. A similar increase occurred on the Padaleunyi Toll Road with an increase of 64.72 percent for incoming vehicles and 67.04 percent for outgoing vehicles.

Based on lidar traffic counting data on March 31, 2025, there was a decrease in the number of vehicles on several main routes in West Java. The Pantura route experienced a decrease of 2.7 percent with the majority of two-wheeled vehicles reaching 73.6 percent.

The Central Route experienced a 5.9 percent decline, also dominated by two-wheeled vehicles at 70.3 percent. On the South Route, the number of vehicles decreased by 4 percent, while on the Tourism Route there was a 0.8 percent decline.

The West Java Provincial Government continues to coordinate with various parties to ensure the smooth flow of return traffic and the readiness of transportation infrastructure to face the peak of the return traffic which is expected to occur in the next few days.

With the strategic steps that have been implemented, it is hoped that public mobility during the Eid holiday can run smoothly and safely.
