PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - It's never too late to learn! This spirit is so felt in the Main Movement of Reciting the Koran in Pasirkaliki Village, Cicendo District, Bandung City.

Citizens of all ages, including the elderly, enthusiastically participated in the program to eradicate illiteracy in the Qur'an.

Interestingly, this program is not just a place to learn to read the Qur'an, but also a forum for the community to improve their understanding of tajwid and tahfidz.

One of the participants is Dedin Wahidin (65). He is a Gober in Pasirkaliki Village. Even though he has only just learned from the Iqra stage, he does not feel inferior and is actually more enthusiastic.

"I know I'm old, but I don't want to stop learning. I want to be able to read the Quran fluently, and this program is very helpful. I hope this activity will continue so that more people can learn," he said in Pasirkaliki Village, Cicendo District (3/18/2025).

Islamic Religious Counselor of the Bandung City Ministry of Religion, Udin Komarudin, said that many participants were initially hesitant to participate because they felt embarrassed or afraid of difficulties. However, after experiencing the relaxed and friendly learning method, they became more confident.

"We don't want to make participants feel burdened. Instead, we want them to enjoy the learning process and feel happy while reciting the Quran. That's what keeps them motivated," Udin explained.

Although the program is running well, there are still obstacles that stand in the way. One of them is the limited time for participants who are still working, so not all can attend every day. However, the enthusiasm for learning remains high.

Deputy Mayor of Bandung, Erwin, who specifically came to attend the Bandung Utama Mengaji activity in Pasirkaliki Village, appreciated the participants.

"The Quran is a guide to life, and reading it correctly is worship. I appreciate the enthusiasm of the residents who want to continue learning, as well as the teachers who patiently guide with easy-to-understand methods," said Erwin.

With the presence of the Main Movement to Recite the Quran program, more and more residents are getting the opportunity to learn to read the Quran properly and correctly.

This program is not only about reading, but also about building togetherness and religious spirit in the community. (Bandung City Communication and Information Service/Fauziah)
