PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Flash floods hit the Braga area, Bandung City, Thursday ( 11/1/2024 ). The West Java Regional Disaster Management Agency team and the Bandung City Fire and Disaster Management Service are on standby at the location carrying out evacuations and disaster emergency assessments.
Based on reports received by the Bandung City Diskar PB, flash floods hit the Braga area of Bandung City, at 16.30 WIB, due to the high intensity of rain and resulting in the Cikapundung river embankment breaking.
As of 22.00, there were 600 residents' houses affected by flash floods, including four RWs, Braga Village, Sumur Bandung District, Bandung City. A total of 150 people were evacuated and three of them were sick.
Residents were evacuated to safe places still in the Braga area, including the kindergarten building and around the Gino Feruci Hotel.
The West Java BPBD Team and the Bandung City Diskar PB appealed to residents not to approach the location of the flash flood and to evacuate their residence to a safe place, considering that if there is rain with high intensity, long duration, and the water discharge increases, there is potential for subsequent flooding.
Until now data collection is still being carried out regarding the damage and whether there were any casualties in the flash flood incident.
