PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Regional Government (Pemda) of Bandung City will launch a waste management educational tourism program entitled Learn to Manage Waste for Kindness or Read Poetry at the Babakan Siliwangi Integrated Waste Processing Site (TPST) starting Saturday (16/6/2024).

This Poetry Reading educational tour will be held in two sessions. The first session is 09.00-10.00 WIB and the second session is 13.00-14.00 WIB on Saturday and Sunday, 16-17 June 2024. Visitors are free.

Visitors are accompanied by instructors who will explain organic waste management initiatives through processes that aim to produce useful products and have a positive impact on the environment.

While at the location, visitors must obey the rules, including:
1. Children must be under adult supervision and be careful in the TPST area.
2. Maintain peace.
3. Throw away rubbish in the right place.
4. Park in the prepared place.

Visitors are prohibited from smoking in the TPST area and approaching and touching machines in the area.

Previously, Bambang said that the waste problem was a crucial matter facing the city of Bandung. Massive education regarding waste management for the community must continue to be intensified, one of which is through waste educational tourism.

"Waste management at the Babakan Siliwangi TPST is good. "There must be integrated waste management tourism education there and this is important," he said.

To support the Babakan Siliwangi TPST to become an educational center for processing waste into renewable energy in Bandung City, DLH Bandung City is upgrading the existing facilities there.

Some of the upgrades that have been carried out by DLH Bandung City at the Babakan Siliwangi TPST are:

1. Roofed Building
From an open TPS, now the Babakan Siliwangi TPS has a large building that can accommodate tens of tons of waste per day. The existence of this roof prevents trash from being exposed to rainwater which can cause the production of leachate and unpleasant odors.

2. Pre-Processing Means
Because not all waste enters the RDF machine, the leaf waste that enters will be filtered first to reduce dirt that is still attached. After that, waste that has a high water content is also fermented first.

3. Shredding Machine Set
The waste that is ready is put into the machine line which consists of a blower and centris for further drying the waste, a crusher and shredder.

4. Packaging and Transportation Area
After entering the machine, the waste that has been processed into RDF can be directly distributed in packaging or bulk. Currently Babakan Siliwangi RDF is used by companies in the textile sector. (Diskominfo Bandung City/Revo)
