PORTALJABAR, BEKASI REGENCY - Bekasi Regent, Ade Kuswara Kunang, invited parents to instill strong religious values from an early age to prevent the increase in teenage brawls, especially during the month of Ramadan.
He emphasized that this holy month can be a means of mental and spiritual development for children through various acts of worship.
"Teenagers who have a strong understanding of religion tend to behave according to applicable norms and rules. Parents have a bigger role than teachers at school in educating and guiding their children," said the Bekasi Regent to the Bekasi Regency Government Public Relations, (5/3/2025).
The Bekasi Regent also emphasized the importance of synergy between the police, TNI, schools, communities, and other stakeholders to create a safe and comfortable environment for children so that they do not get involved in brawls.
"I am sure the police have steps to deal with youth brawls, such as sarong fights or similar actions during the month of Ramadan, especially at critical times after tarawih prayers," he explained.
The Regent of Bekasi also said that character education is not only the responsibility of schools, but also parents at home.
Head of the Bekasi Regency Education Office, Imam Faturohman, also reminded that the month of Ramadan should be a momentum for teenagers to do more good and increase their worship.
"To the children who are studying in Bekasi Regency, I hope they will become good, pious children who are devoted to their parents and useful to the nation and state," he said.
The Regent of Bekasi also appreciated the collaboration between parents and the community in creating a safe educational environment.
"Thank you for the cooperation of all parties in presenting safe schools in Bekasi Regency. Thus, the ideals of making Bekasi Regency rise, advance, and prosper can be realized," he concluded. (Diskominfo Kab. Bekasi/Fauziah)
