This instruction was delivered after he reviewed the residents' settlements in Ranca Iga Village, Cipayung Village, East Cikarang District, Wednesday (3/5/2025).

After the issuance of the emergency response decree for disasters valid for 14 days, the Regent of Bekasi emphasized the importance of the involvement of all parties in helping people affected by the flood.

By increasing the emergency response status, the Bekasi District Government can be more optimal in distributing aid to affected residents, in accordance with the disaster budget allocation that has been prepared.

"In handling this disaster, we continue to synergize with the TNI-Polri and environmental activists. Earlier, a meeting was also held with the Forkopimda to determine the emergency response status," he added.

Based on data from the Bekasi Regency BPBD as of Wednesday (3/5/2025), as many as 61,648 people from 16,371 families were affected by the flood, with more than 48,000 people displaced. The Bekasi Regent emphasized that in addition to emergency response efforts, the government will also pay attention to the long-term impacts of this disaster.

"We all have to be aware that development must consider environmental impact analysis more specifically so that similar disasters do not occur in the future," he said.

During his visit, the Bekasi Regent also inspected the houses of residents affected by flash floods due to the overflowing Cibeet River. He also had a dialogue with residents and ensured that his 100-day leadership program includes repairing uninhabitable houses (Rutilahu), especially for residents whose houses were damaged by the flood.

In addition, he emphasized the importance of maintaining the spatial planning of agricultural land to prevent land conversion which could worsen the risk of flooding.

"This emergency response status aims to ensure the safety and comfort of residents, especially vulnerable groups such as pregnant women, toddlers, and children who need special treatment," he concluded. (Diskominfo Kab. Bekasi/rka)
