PORTALJABAR, BOGOR REGENCY - Bogor Regent Rudy Susmanto together with the Indonesian Ulema Council of the Republic of Indonesia confirmed a fatwa prohibiting littering in rivers, lakes, and seas to encourage changes in citizens' behavior in protecting the environment (10/2/2026).

The Clean Action audience and fatwa confirmation activity was held at the Soekarno Hatta Hall, Bogor Regent's Hall, Cibinong, and was attended by relevant parties.

Rudy emphasized that maintaining environmental cleanliness is not only the government's responsibility, but also part of the moral and religious responsibility of every individual.

"Together with the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) and other relevant parties, I held a Clean Action audience and confirmed the MUI fatwa prohibiting dumping waste in rivers, lakes, and seas. This serves as a reminder that maintaining environmental cleanliness is a moral and religious responsibility," said Rudy Susmanto.

Rudy said that the fatwa is expected to strengthen public awareness to be more disciplined in managing waste and not polluting the environment.

"This is also a concrete step towards raising collective awareness about caring for nature for the health, sustainability, and future of our children and grandchildren," he added.

The Bogor Regency Government aims for this fatwa to become a concrete impetus for residents to develop clean living habits and strengthen the environmental movement in a sustainable manner. (Bogor Regency Communications and Information Office/bhf)
