PORTALJABAR, GARUT REGENCY - Garut Regent Abdusy Syakur Amin directly reviewed the implementation of the Integrated Marriage Confirmation activity at the Banyuresmi District Office, Garut Regency, Friday (2/10/2026).
This activity is part of the Garut Regency Government's (Pemkab) efforts to help the community obtain legal certainty regarding marriages that have not been registered with the state administration.
In his remarks, the Regent of Garut explained that the Integrated Marriage Confirmation is a form of facilitation from the Garut Regency Government to help people register their marriages officially through the Religious Court and the Ministry of Religion.
This step was taken in response to the ongoing practice of underhand marriages or nikah siri in Garut Regency, namely marriages that are legally valid according to religion but have not been registered with the state administration.
According to the Regent, the absence of official marriage documents is very likely to cause problems in the future, especially for women and children.
"Well, this will be detrimental to the family and will also impact their legal status if anything happens, such as inheritance issues, insurance, and so on," said the Garut Regent.
To optimize services, the Integrated Marriage Confirmation (Isbat Nikah) program also involves the Garut Regency Population and Civil Registration Office (Disdukcapil). The presence of Disdukcapil allows couples who have received their marriages validated to immediately renew their civil documents, such as their Family Cards (Kartu Keluarga) and Identity Cards (KTP).
In this way, community population data can be more orderly and in accordance with family administration conditions.
At the end of the activity, the Regent expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the Population Control, Family Planning, Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Service (DPPKBPPPA) of Garut Regency as the initiator of the activity.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Garut Regency DPPKBPPPA, Yayan Waryana, reported that the quota for Isbat Nikah services in October 2026 is estimated to reach more than 100 couples.
Yayan emphasized the Garut Regency Government's ongoing commitment to streamlining marriage administration. Throughout 2026, over 200 couples had been facilitated through the program.
"We will continue the rest," Yayan concluded, ensuring that the program to provide legal certainty for families in Garut Regency will continue.
Furthermore, the Head of the Garut Religious Court, Ayip, stated that 61 couples participated in the Integrated Marriage Confirmation service in 2026. He expressed his hope that the event would run smoothly and provide legal certainty in marriage.
