PORTALJABAR, GARUT REGENCY - The Garut Regency Government is preparing a digital notification system to monitor student attendance and prevent children from dropping out of school.
Garut Regent Abdusy Syakur Amin conveyed the plan at the Coordination Meeting for Handling Student Absences and Children Not in School at the Garut Regency Personnel and Training Agency Office, Tarogong Kidul (12/8/2026).
Abdusy Syakur believes that the high number of out-of-school children (ATS) needs to be addressed through early detection and ongoing monitoring.
"We are very concerned about children who don't go to school. This may be because their parents don't have the financial means to support them, and their children don't want to work," said Abdusy Syakur.
According to him, the government needs to detect students who are starting to become inactive in learning before this condition develops into dropping out of school.
"At the very least, I will filter out children who attend school but don't continue. I'll do this by detecting as soon as possible when a child says they're attending school but isn't," he stressed.
The Garut Regency Government will promote a digital system that sends notifications to parents when their child is recorded as absent from school.
This system allows student absences to be detected more quickly so that schools, parents, and the government can immediately take follow-up action.
"That way, there will be comprehensive monitoring," he concluded.
Abdusy Syakur hopes that the system will be able to strengthen joint supervision while preventing truancy and children dropping out of school.
