PORTALJABAR, GARUT REGENCY - Garut Regent Abdusy Syakur Amin reviewed the implementation of school start times at 06.30 WIB to ensure the policy runs smoothly, (5/8/2026).

The review took place at SDN 7 Regol Kiansantang, Garut City District, when Garut Regency began implementing adjustments to school hours.

This policy applies to students at Elementary School (SD) and Junior High School (SMP) levels in the 2026/2027 Academic Year.

Abdusy Syakur Amin had a dialogue with parents about readiness to wake up in the morning, the journey to school, and traffic conditions.

He also visited the classroom and encouraged students before learning activities began.

The implementation of earlier start times is expected to foster student discipline while optimizing concentration on learning in the morning.

This policy is also expected to help reduce traffic congestion during school departure times and during people's work activities.

The Garut Regency Government continues to encourage improvements in the quality of education and the formation of student character through educational policies.

However, educational units that are not yet able to implement 06.30 WIB are still permitted to use the previous schedule based on certain considerations.

These provisions are stated in the Appeal Letter Number 400.3.1/2739 concerning the Appeal for Adjusting the Starting Time for Classes.

Considerations include the psychological condition of students, the availability of infrastructure, and the socio-cultural conditions of the community around the school.

These educational units are expected to adjust the schedule gradually and report the progress of its implementation to the Garut Regency Education Office.
