PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Acting Mayor of Bandung, Bambang Tirtoyuliono, welcomed the simultaneous tree planting activity in the North Bandung Area (KBU), Saturday (27/1/2024).
According to him, this activity needs to be intensified to prevent the negative impacts of potential disasters in the Greater Bandung area, especially Bandung City.
"We remind and invite ourselves and each other to care more," he said.
He further said that the disaster that occurred in the Greater Bandung area recently was the result of a lack of concern for the environment. He highlighted waste management behavior and greening efforts as aspects that need attention.
Furthermore, Bambang also conveyed the maintenance process after planting activities that needed to be paid attention to. So these plants have life value and conservation functions.
"Not only planting but also caring for trees so that they have life value and conservation functions. "We feel that this aspect of collaboration in conservation is important," he said.
Head of the West Java Provincial Forestry Service, Dodit Ardian Pancapana, appreciated all parties involved in this simultaneous tree planting activity. Starting from the ranks of the West Java Provincial Government, Bandung City Government, Bandung District Government, and also West Bandung District Government.
He hopes that this activity can improve ecology, especially in the Bandung basin area.
Around 28,900 plant seeds were planted in this simultaneous tree planting. Tree planting activities were also carried out in a total of 73 hectares in the North Bandung area spread across 12 sub-districts.
These include: Cisarua, Lembang, Parongpong Districts (West Bandung Regency), Cimenyan, Cileunyi Districts (Bandung Regency), Jatinangor Districts (Sumedang Regency), as well as Coblong, Cidadap, Mandalajati, Ujungberung, Cibeunying Kaler and Cibiru Districts (Bandung City).
“Apart from that, the empowerment and welfare side of the community must be considered. "In the future, there will be a maintenance and harvesting process," said Dodit.
By increasing land cover in KBU, he hopes that the amount of airborne rain runoff can be reduced and minimize the extreme impact of the rainy season and act as an air catchment in the dry season. (rdp*)
