Creating Better Public Communication, Bandung Mayor Invites Social Media Managers to Innovate

PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - As an effort to convey better information, the Mayor of Bandung, Muhammad Farhan, provided direction to social media managers (admins) from all Regional Apparatus within the Bandung City Government, at the Bandung City Hall Auditorium (7/3/2025).

According to him, there are several crucial things related to managing public communication, especially through social media platforms.

One of the main messages conveyed is the importance of uniformity in conveying messages to the public. As an effort to ensure that the vision of Bandung City, known as Bandung Utama, can be disseminated properly.

The Mayor of Bandung reminded every regional apparatus social media admin to comply with the established communication standards. This aims to avoid confusion among the public regarding the direction and policies of the city government.

"Social media management is not just about standardization, but also about creating clear, straightforward, and unambiguous public communication. We must ensure that the public understands our vision and mission in a simple but effective way," said Pak Wali, Farhan's nickname.

He also encouraged managers to further explore creativity through interesting content and graphic design that is in accordance with the character of the city of Bandung.

"Following trends is okay, but we must not lose our character. Creativity in content and graphic design is very important to attract the audience's attention," he said.

In the discussion session, Head of the Bandung City Communication and Informatics Agency, Yayan Ahmad Brilyana, said that the population of Bandung City reached 2.1 million people. Most of the residents are active internet users, especially on platforms such as TikTok and Instagram.

"Therefore, we must map the audience carefully. Understand who our target audience is, and ensure that every content created is in accordance with the character of the audience. The use of signature logos, color tones, and other visual elements must be consistent and on target," explained Yayan.

Yayan also said that the issue of managing and delivering clear and uniform information is the main key so that there are no different perceptions regarding policies or information delivered by the Bandung City Government.

"Information that is not uniform will only cause confusion and different perceptions among the public. We must work together to ensure that the information delivered is always consistent, clear, and easy to understand," he said.

With this direction, it is expected that social media managers from each Regional Apparatus can be more professional in carrying out their duties, conveying information in an effective manner, and maintaining a positive image of the Bandung City Government in the eyes of the public.
