PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Lebaran holiday is a moment of tourist surge in Bandung City. Bandung Mayor, Muhammad Farhan, estimates the number of tourists coming to the city during D+1 to D+7 of Lebaran to reach one million people, with an average daily visit reaching 150,000 to 200,000 people.
However, the surge in tourists also has an impact on the increase in waste volume. Until before the Eid prayer, the Bandung City Government recorded the success of reducing waste at Street Vendor (PKL) points by 50 tons compared to the previous year.
However, the target of emptying 70 percent of temporary disposal sites (TPS) has not been achieved, with realization only around 59.63 percent.
For this reason, Farhan appealed to tourists to be more responsible for the waste they produce while traveling in Bandung.
"I would like to remind tourists, please be responsible for your own trash. Put your trash in the trash can and if possible take it home. Currently we do not have enough energy, time and opportunity to take care of the trash that is thrown carelessly," he said.
He also highlighted the lower hotel occupancy rate compared to the previous year. This is a serious concern for the government, because the tourism sector is one of the main contributors to local revenue (PAD).
"We will evaluate tourist visits every week. The PAD target from the tourism sector must still be achieved, even though there is a decrease in the number of tourists staying at hotels," he said.
Farhan advised tourists to maintain the comfort of Bandung City.
"We are ready to welcome you all with a smile. So, don't give us a reason to be upset because of disorderly behavior while in Bandung," Farhan hoped. (Bandung City Communication and Information Service/rka)
