PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Government is strengthening its tourism identity through branding arrangements at Husein Sastranegara International Airport.

The Head of the Bandung City Culture and Tourism Office (Disbudpar), Adi Junjunan Mustafa, said that strengthening branding involves airport management and the private sector.

"The Bandung City Government is collaborating with the airport, as well as with the private sector. We're quite intensively branding Bandung. Of course, this isn't complete yet, and we'll continue to refine it," said Adi at Bandung City Hall (August 31, 2026).

The arrangement features typical Bandung ornaments, including seating and cabin-shaped elements as part of the tourist experience.

A 10-meter-long LED screen also displays Bandung-themed messages to welcome passengers upon arrival at the airport.

"The iconic part is that there are seats and a cabin. It's unique. Especially with the 10-meter-long LED lights displaying the words 'Bandung,'" he said.

A number of typical expressions such as “wilujeng landing” and “sampurasoon” are used to enhance the tourist experience when entering Bandung City.

The layout concept has received approval from Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan and was developed with designers to strengthen the city's identity.

In addition to Bandung's distinctive visuals, the Culture and Tourism Office displays artwork by people with disabilities to convey a message of inclusivity to tourists.

One of the works displayed is a painting by Muhammad Syafiq or Oki, which was previously present in the Asia Africa Festival series.

The work is considered to demonstrate opportunities for people with disabilities to contribute through creativity while also introducing Bandung as an inclusive city.

"It was also created by people with disabilities. For the Mayor, Bandung is an inclusive city, a very open city. Anyone can contribute to the city of Bandung," said Adi.

The Culture and Tourism Office is also evaluating the impact of the resumption of commercial flights at Husein Sastranegara International Airport starting August 14, 2026.

The evaluation includes the stability of flight frequency and number of passengers through coordination with airport management.

"We'll probably evaluate this in August. Flights are also important, as it's only the first month, or even half a month. We'll also coordinate with the airport," he said.

Adi estimates that the increase in foreign tourists will be the most potential impact of the resumption of flights at Husein Airport.

"What I see as the biggest change is the number of foreign tourist visits. It will probably be higher than before," he said.
