PORTALJABAR, BEKASI REGENCY - The Bekasi Regency Transportation Agency (Dishub) has proposed the installation of 146 public street lighting (PJU) points to the West Java Provincial Government to improve road user safety.
Acting Head of the Bekasi Regency Transportation Agency, Andi Suhadhi, said the proposal covers 102 points on the Lemahabang to Pasirgombong section and 44 points towards the West Cikarang Toll Gate.
Andi explained that the Bekasi Regency Transportation Agency together with the Regional Technical Implementation Unit (UPTD) Region I of West Java Province had surveyed the location to ensure the feasibility of installing PJU poles.
"Yesterday, we conducted a survey with the Head of UPTD Region I and staff to directly observe the conditions on the ground. Based on the survey results, the Lemahabang to Pasirgombong section is deemed suitable for installing street lighting poles," he said in an interview on Monday (11/10/2026).
According to Andi, the installation of poles in the road median must meet technical requirements, including a minimum median width of 80 centimeters.
Differences in median widths in a number of locations require field checks to ensure installation complies with regulations and does not compromise the safety of road users.
"So, from Lemahabang to Pasirgombong, there are 102 points, and from Jababeka 1 and 2 to the West Cikarang Toll Gate, there are 44 points. Hopefully, it can be realized by the end of this year," he explained.
The Bekasi Regency Transportation Agency has submitted a letter requesting support for the construction of street lighting to the West Java Provincial Government since last April.
Through this proposal, the district government hopes that the construction and maintenance of street lighting on provincial roads can be supported by the provincial government budget.
Previously, the support of the West Java Provincial Government had realized the installation of around 150 white decorative PJU poles from the Cibarusah area to the area before Cifest, Kandang Roda.
Head of Facilities and Infrastructure of the Bekasi Regency Transportation Agency, Deny Hendra Kurniawan, said that his party has again proposed the installation of PJU from Simpang Lippo or the Jam Gadang area to Cifest, Kandang Roda.
"We have already prepared the locations for the Simpang Lippo to Kandang Roda section. However, we will still conduct a survey to ensure the minimum median width of 80 centimeters is met to meet installation requirements," he said.
Deny hopes the West Java Provincial Government will approve the additional proposal so that street lighting will be more evenly distributed, support driving safety, and beautify the Bekasi Regency area.
