PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The West Java Provincial DPRD is encouraging the West Java Provincial Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Service to commit to supporting fishermen in the coastal areas of Bekasi Regency, following the viral sea fencing.
Member of Commission II of the West Java Provincial DPRD, Ade Puspitasari, said that the interests of fishermen could be prioritized as well as the support of the Work Reference Framework (KAK) of the West Java Provincial Government.
"Alhamdulillah, we were accompanied by the head of the agency directly and we have seen firsthand what is currently viral, namely the sea fence, of course what we should know is that the sea fence is the authority of the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries," said Ade Puspitasari during a working visit to TPI PAL Jaya in order to monitor the sea fence in Bekasi Regency, Wednesday (5/2/2025).
According to Ade, the sea fence in Bekasi is not the same as the one in Tangerang. In Bekasi Regency, the sea fence is already owned by the private sector or the company. But those related to the Province of West Java, especially those committed to DKP, are PT. TPRN and PT. Man. Then what is owned by PT. TPRN is a lease and this lease is clear to DKP, there is no problem.
"But he built a sea fence which is the authority of the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries regarding the KKPRL (Conformity of Marine Space Utilization Activities) regarding the permit and approval issued by the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, and this is currently being coordinated by the West Java province as Commission II," he said.
The same thing was also expressed by Member of Commission II of the West Java DPRD, Siti Qomariyah. According to Siti, in this case, Commission II hopes that all problems can be resolved, especially since the matter has been handled by the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries and the Ministry of Environment, I think it is right. Especially related to its legality and administratively it has not been taken, perhaps that is the current problem.
"What is clear is what the fate of fishermen will be, as long as it is true for the prosperity of society," said Siti.
"We are very supportive but if it deviates from that, we will fight for it because that is our duty," he concluded. (no)
