PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Government launched the Katresna (Concern for Violence against Women and Children) service at the Bandung Kiwari Regional Hospital, Tuesday, March 4, 2025.
The Mayor of Bandung, Muhammad Farhan, accompanied by the Deputy Mayor of Bandung, Erwin, officially launched this service.
Katresna is a comprehensive initiative from RSUD Bandung Kiwari for the prevention, treatment, and recovery of victims of gender-based violence.
Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan emphasized that violence against women and children is a serious problem that must be handled systematically.
"Violence against women, both physical and psychological, must be our common concern. Medical examination is very important, both for handling victims and as legal evidence. This is not only a matter of health, but also a matter of humanity," he said.
According to her, the presence of Katresna is a new milestone in the protection of women and children in the city of Bandung. This program prioritizes an integrated approach, from prevention to rapid response to cases of violence.
"We want to build a stronger, more effective, and more humane protection system. This service must be a real solution, not just a ceremony," he added.
Meanwhile, the Director of Bandung Kiwari Hospital, Dr. Yorisa Sativa, explained that Katresna plays a role in medical treatment for victims of violence.
These services include physical examinations by specialist doctors, support for psychologists, and screening for infectious diseases such as HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis B.
"Katresna's main principle is to ensure that aid helps, meets their needs, and ensures that there is no stigma against survivors," he said.
He also highlighted the phenomenon of violence against children that is often hidden, like the tip of an iceberg. Therefore, he invited the public to be braver in "speaking up" and utilizing this service.
The Katresna service is located on the 7th floor of the Bandung Kiwari Regional Hospital and operates 24 hours to ensure victims are reached whenever needed.
This service can be the main solution in helping victims get their rights to protection and recovery.
On this occasion, the Mayor of Bandung, Farhan also inaugurated the Geulis Kiwari and Senandung Perdana services. (Bandung City Communication and Information Service/Fauziah)
