PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Government recorded approximately 60 thousand boarding and rented rooms through the RW Information Record Service to strengthen neighborhood security (24/6/2026).

This effort ensures that every resident of boarding houses and rented houses is monitored down to the neighborhood association level through a digital data collection system.

Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan said the data collection was carried out as an early detection measure and to increase public social awareness.

This statement was made in response to a case of alleged violence against a woman in a boarding house in Bandung Regency.

Farhan appreciated the swift action of the West Java Regional Police in handling the case and providing assistance to the victim.

"Thank God, I really appreciate the West Java Regional Police for their swift action. The Bandung City Government is also providing assistance to the victim and her family," said Farhan.

According to him, the City of Bandung already has a monitoring system for boarding houses and rented accommodation through the RW Information Record Service or Laci RW program.

The program involves the heads of neighborhood associations and residents' associations as the spearheads of data collection on regional conditions.

"In Bandung City, we have Laci RW, the RW Information Record Service. Each RT and RW head periodically provides information about the condition of their area, including the number of boarding houses and rental properties," he said.

Through this system, the Bandung City Government monitors around 60 thousand boarding and rental rooms spread throughout the region.

Resident data is updated every three months so that changes in environmental conditions can be identified more quickly.

Farhan explained that every new resident is required to report their whereabouts to the regional administrator within a maximum of 1x24 hours after occupying the boarding house.

The data collection is done digitally through Laci RW so that the recording process is faster and more accurate.

"Boarding house residents cannot be isolated; they must be part of the community. Even if their ID cards are not from Bandung City, while they are working or studying in Bandung City, their whereabouts must be known to the RW Head through the RW Laci," said Farhan.

The existence of this system helps the government obtain environmental information periodically to support preventive measures against various social problems.

Farhan hopes that boarding house owners, neighborhood association administrators, and residents' associations will actively ensure that all residents are properly registered.

This step is expected to create a safer, more orderly and more responsive residential environment to various potential risks.
