PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Currently, a large area in West Java is entering extreme weather. Several areas in West Java have resulted in various disasters such as floods and landslides, such as those that occurred in Sukabumi Regency and Cianjur Regency.

In response to this condition, the West Java DPRD asked the West Java Provincial Government to re-map the environmental conditions in the West Java region.

This was stated by the Deputy Chairman of the West Java Provincial DPRD, MQ Iswara, on the sidelines of the Dissemination of West Java Provincial Regulation No. 4 of 2023 concerning the Environmental Protection and Management Plan to the Babakan Sari community, Bandung City, last weekend.

"We from the West Java DPRD will discuss internally and will ask the provincial government to re-map the environmental conditions in West Java, both in the North West Java region, the North Bandung area, and the South West Java region," said Iswara.

According to Iswara, various areas in West Java must immediately carry out disaster mapping and mitigation to reduce the risk and impact of disasters, so as to minimize losses and the number of fatalities.

"Disaster mitigation must also be carried out immediately because this weather may be unpredictable, rainfall is above average so we ask for immediate action," he said.

Iswara also requested that development permits in nature conservation areas be limited. Including a moratorium on the granting of development permits such as in the North Bandung Area (KBU) which is a protected water catchment area and its development is limited.

"For some special conditions, we may request a moratorium, during the assessment of the real conditions in the field, then the implementation of the granting of permits is in accordance with its use, we will request this from the provincial government," he concluded. (rep no)
