PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Dozens of students and academics from Al-Ghifari University, Bandung City took part in the Beginner Voter Education Socialization activity "KPU Goes to Campus" held by the West Java General Election Commission (KPU).

The first "KPU Goes to Campus" activity was carried out ahead of the 2024 West Java Governor and Deputy Governor Election, voting for which will be held on November 27 2024.

Apart from resource persons from the KPU, in the Beginner Voter Education Socialization activity "KPU Goes to Campus" there were also representatives from the West Java Bawaslu.

Head of the Socialization, Voter Education and Community Participation Division, West Java KPU Hedi Ardia said the aim of this activity was to provide outreach and strengthen understanding of prospective voters from among young voters in Bandung City.

"For the West Java Provincial KPU, this activity will be a starting point for outreach activities for other segments, starting from indigenous communities, disabilities, professional groups, and so on. There are eight segments that we will provide outreach to," said Hedi, Wednesday (10 /7/2024).

Hedi admitted that the West Java KPU had carried out other stages in the 2024 West Java gubernatorial election, starting from factual verification of independent candidates to matching and researching voter data in West Java.

"From today until the future, we will carry out outreach activities with the hope that the voter participation rate in West Java will increase by at least two percent," said Hedi.

According to Hedi, in the current digital era, his party will also use it for outreach activities using information technology, such as social media and mass media.

“Today young voters are very familiar with the internet. "Therefore, we have to take advantage of the existence of media so that we hope that the content we present will be appropriate to their world," he said.

Meanwhile, the Chancellor of Al-Ghifari University, Didin Muhafidin, said that this socialization was very important so that students and the academic community at Al-Ghifari University could make their choices in the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Elections well.

"Because there is a saying, don't buy a cat in a sack. And voters are expected to really understand what they are choosing. Don't let students be pitted against each other and politicized," said Didin.

“With this understanding, he becomes neutral. Understand what to do. "And of course they will see which candidate's vision and mission is the best," he added.

Didin hopes that what they get from this socialization can be passed on to other people, starting from their families, friends, and the environment. So that they participate in this regional election.

"Students must take part in ensuring that the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Elections can run directly, publicly, freely, confidentially and honestly," he concluded.
