PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Based on the complete census results of the 2023 Agricultural Census (ST), the number of agricultural businesses in West Java Province in 2023 was recorded at 3,293,682 units.
Head of West Java BPS Marsudijono said that the number of agricultural businesses in 2023 will experience a decrease of 8.97 percent from 2013 of 3,618,248 units.
Of this number, 99.95 percent are individual agricultural businesses (UTP). Meanwhile, agricultural businesses with legal entities (UPB) were 619 units (0.02 percent), and others were 943 units (0.03 percent).
The most UTPs are in Sukabumi Regency with 358,825 units or 10.90 percent of the UTPs in West Java.
Furthermore, the districts and cities with the second and third highest number of UTPs are Garut and Cianjur with 327,820 units (9.96 percent) and 301,072 units (9.15 percent), respectively.
Meanwhile, the fewest UTPs are in Cirebon City with 1,932 units or 0.06 percent of the UTPs in West Java.
Based on the subsectors operated, the majority of UTPs operate in the food crops subsector, namely 2,221,502 units.
The next sub-sectors, which are the most sought after, are horticulture, animal husbandry and forestry with 1,287,788 units, 1,065,093 units and 590,816 units respectively.
Agricultural services are the subsector that is least operated by UTP, namely only 55,351 units.
Meanwhile, UPB in West Java in 2023 will mostly operate in the livestock subsector, namely 277 units.
The next dominant subsectors are plantations and horticulture with 147 units and 86 units respectively.
543,044 millennial farmers
Marsudijono said, based on the 2023 ST results, there were 543,044 millennial farmers aged 19-39 years, whether using or not using digital technology, or 17.19 percent.
Meanwhile, there are 1,316,743 farmers who are over 39 years old and use digital technology (41.68 percent) and 296 farmers who are less than 19 years old and use digital technology (0.01 percent).
The district and city with the most millennial farmers aged 19-39 years is Sukabumi Regency with 71,169 people or around 13.11 percent of all millennial farmers aged 19-39 years in West Java.
Meanwhile, the districts and cities with the second and third highest number of millennial farmers aged 19–39 years are Garut and Cianjur Districts with 69,878 people (12.87 percent) and 57,084 people (10.51 percent), respectively.
Meanwhile, in November 2023, a combination of seven cities in West Java experienced year on year (yoy) inflation of 2.85 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 117.52.
The highest yoy inflation occurred in Bogor City at 3.64 percent and the lowest occurred in Bandung City at 2.36 percent.
Inflation occurs due to an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in all expenditure group indices.
On a month to month (mtm) basis, November 2023 experienced inflation of 0.36 percent. The highest mtm inflation occurred in Bogor City at 0.81 percent. Meanwhile, the lowest mtm inflation occurred in Cirebon City at 0.16 percent.
