PORTALJABAR, DISTRICT. GARUT - Garut Regency succeeded in winning two awards at the same time at the 2024 BAZNAS (National Amil Zakat Agency) Awards, which were held at the Bidakara Hotel, Jakarta, Thursday (29/2/2024).

The two awards are the Best Regional Head Supporting Zakat Management which was received by the Acting Regent of Garut Barnas Adjidin, and the Best Coordination with Regional Government in Indonesia which was received by BAZNAS Garut Regency.

Acting Regent of Garut Barnas Ajidin, after receiving the award, expressed his gratitude and pride for receiving this award, and hoped that communication and coordination with the Regency BAZNAS would remain intact.

Chairman of BAZNAS Garut Regency, Abdullah Efendi, said that the 2024 BAZNAS Awards held by BAZNAS of the Republic of Indonesia is an annual award event for state officials who care about and fully support zakat management at both the central and regional levels, then awards to provincial BAZNAS, district/regency BAZNAS city, to the Amil Zakat Institution (LAZ) and so on.

On this occasion, continued Effendi, the Best Regional Head Supporting Zakat Management award was given to 30 districts and 20 cities throughout Indonesia, while the Best Coordination with Regional Government was given to 12 BAZNAS districts/cities throughout Indonesia, one of which was won by Regency BAZNAS Garut.

He said that the award achieved by Garut Regency could not be separated from the policies of the Regent of Garut Rudy Gunawan and the Deputy Regent of Garut, Dr. Helmi Budiman, who has supported zakat management in Garut Regency, by issuing several regulations regarding support for zakat management in Garut Regency, one of which is Garut Regency Regional Regulation (Perda) Number 6 of 2024 concerning Zakat Management in Garut Regency.

Not only that, Effendi also said that Rudy-Helmi's leadership also allocated a lot of grant funds to BAZNAS Garut Regency, which is mandated by Law Number 23 of 2012 concerning Zakat Management in Indonesia. In fact, at the end of 2023, the Garut Regency Regional Government (Pemdakab) has allocated the construction of a representative BAZNAS Garut Regency Office building and the inauguration was attended by the leadership of BAZNAS RI.

Effendi hopes that the Acting Regent of Garut can continue the previous regent's policy of optimizing zakat and infaq collection in Garut Regency.

"We also continue to allocate grant funds for the operations of BAZNAS Garut Regency. (Moreover) the potential for zakat in Garut Regency from ASN alone according to a study from Psukaptis BAZNAS RI reaches IDR 26 billion," he said.

The 2024 BAZNAS Awards were also attended by the Indonesian Minister of Religion (Menag) Yaqut Cholil Qoumas, Chairman of the Indonesian Baznas Prof. Dr. KH Noor Achmad, Arab Egyptian Ambassador to Indonesia Yasser Hassan Farag Elshemy, Musytasyar Grand Shaykh Al-Azhar for Bayt Zakat Wa As Sadaqat Egypt Prof. Dr. Sahr Nasr, Chairman of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) KH. Anwar Iskandar, as well as the leadership of Baznas RI, representatives of Baznas throughout Indonesia, as well as award recipients, including Acting Governor of West Java Bey Machmudin.
