PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Imah Seuri Shop on Jalan Terusan Sutami, Bandung City has become a space for empowering orphans and the underprivileged through a culinary business that combines economic activities and social development since 2023 as an effort to create independence and self-confidence in foster children (19/6/2026).

The shop started from the idea of Kang Zaehanan who founded the foster home in 2010 after performing the Hajj pilgrimage to provide a safe space for children facing limitations and social pressures.

"These children need a place to grow and believe in themselves. Here, they are encouraged to be productive, creative, and discover their full potential," said Kang Zaehanan.

Over time, this shop has developed into a social space that not only provides food, but also a forum for interaction, learning, and mental strengthening for the children in its care.

Around 15 to 20 foster children actively participate in activities at Kedai Imah Seuri, especially on weekends, with voluntary involvement in customer service as part of the social learning process.

"There's no coercion. They see it as a business transaction. Instead, they're the ones competing to help and serve," he said.

The existence of this shop is also a source of funding for the development program for orphans and the underprivileged, with part of the profits allocated to their education and development.

In addition, Kedai Imah Seuri presents a warm atmosphere with various creative works of foster children on display and some can be purchased by visitors as a form of support for the development of their talents.

The menu offered includes Kecombrang Fried Rice, Anchovy Fried Rice, Hot and Cold Bread, and Pempek Tower with prices starting from IDR 10,000 and operating every day from 06.00 to 22.00 WIB.

This story is an example of collaboration between social care and economic empowerment that brings real benefits to the children in care and the surrounding community.
