PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City contingent won the title of champion in the men's pencak silat and football sports at the 2026 West Java Regional Student Sports Week and qualified its athletes for the XV West Java Regional Student Sports Week (26/6/2026).

This achievement strengthens the results of student sports development while also bringing honor to the name of Bandung City at the regional level.

The pencak silat sport brought Bandung City to become the overall champion after winning 12 gold medals, five silver medals, and one bronze medal.

Secretary General of the Indonesian Pencak Silat Association of Bandung City, Andra R. Malela, appreciated the efforts of the athletes, coaches, and officials who led the contingent to achieve the best results.

"Alhamdulillah, thanks to hard work, discipline, and a strong fighting spirit, the Pencak Silat team has successfully won the title of General Champion of the 2026 West Java Popwilda. This achievement is the result of a continuous coaching process, the dedication of athletes, coaches, officials, and the support of all parties who have fought together," he said.

Andra said this achievement is a motivation to continue improving athlete development towards higher achievements.

"This success motivates us to continue producing high-achieving athletes and strengthen Pencak Silat's path to the Olympics. Hopefully, this achievement will be the beginning of even greater achievements at the national and international levels," he said.

The men's soccer team also performed impressively, sweeping all matches to emerge as champions of the 2026 West Java Popwilda.

Bandung City beat Bandung Regency, Tasikmalaya Regency, Tasikmalaya City, and Garut Regency to secure the championship title.

Waliyuddin Shofa Arridho's achievement was further enhanced after he was crowned the top scorer with three goals throughout the tournament.
