PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Government shared innovations in integrated parking and transportation digitalization with the Padang City Government during a working visit to the Bandung City Hall (29/6/2026).
Mayor Muhammad Farhan explained that Bandung City has around 2.6 million residents with 2.3 million motorized vehicles that require more modern transportation management.
Farhan said that around 1.7 million of these vehicles are motorbikes, so the need for parking space continues to increase every year.
The Bandung City Government is organizing its parking system to be more orderly through digitalization and supporting smooth traffic flow in various areas.
The government is also encouraging the construction of parking buildings through private investment as a solution to reduce vehicles parked on the road.
"We are currently seeking investors to build a parking structure. We hope that the development of shopping centers and hotels will also be accompanied by the provision of adequate parking facilities to reduce on-street parking," said Farhan.
Farhan assessed that the increase in Whoosh High-Speed Train passengers, the planned reopening of Husein Sastranegara Airport, and toll road connectivity have increased public mobility.
This condition makes the need for an efficient transportation and parking system increasingly important to support residents' activities.
Padang Deputy Mayor Maigus Nasir said that Bandung City was chosen as the learning location because it has successfully developed digitalization of parking and transportation.
Maigus said Padang City faces similar challenges with the construction of flyovers, toll roads to Bukittinggi, and the development of tourist areas.
"We see that Bandung is already more advanced in digitalizing parking and transportation systems. Therefore, we came to learn and share experiences so that they can be implemented in Padang City," he said.
Maigus added that the Padang City Government also introduced the Padang Mobile application, which integrates government services, public transportation, and digital character development.
