PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Government has established five new investment focuses to create economic growth and open up business opportunities for the community (24/6/2026).
The five priority sectors include heritage tourism, medical tourism, sports tourism, development of East Bandung, and the Transit Oriented Development or TOD area.
The policy was conveyed by Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan when closing the 2026 Bandung Investment Forum series at the Holiday Inn Pasteur Hotel.
Farhan emphasized that the potential of Bandung City must be realized into investments that provide real benefits for residents.
"Bandung is a city full of opportunities. These opportunities don't stop in Bandung; they must be realized as tangible investments," he said.
According to him, the five priority sectors were selected based on regional characteristics and the results of discussions with various stakeholders.
In the heritage tourism sector, the Bandung City Government encourages the use of cultural heritage buildings to ensure their sustainability and economic value.
The government is also preparing incentives for owners of cultural heritage buildings to support their preservation and productive use.
In the field of medical tourism, Bandung City is directed to become a destination for quality health, aesthetics, and wellness services.
The excellence as a city of education is considered to be an important asset in preparing human resources in the health sector.
"While people used to come to Bandung for shopping or culinary delights, in the future I want people to come to Bandung for health and aesthetic services as well," he said.
The sports tourism sector is also a focus because it can increase tourist visits and stimulate economic activity in the community.
The Bandung City Government is committed to presenting various sporting activities that can attract participants and visitors from various regions.
"Sports tourism isn't just about economic figures, but also about bringing pride and emotion to the community's city," he said.
In addition, East Bandung is projected to become a new investment corridor with various strategic area development opportunities.
The Ujungberung, Cibiru, and areas around the Indonesia-China Tegalluar High-Speed Railway Station are considered to have promising investment prospects.
The area has the potential to develop through natural tourism, commercial centers, sports, and transit-based areas.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Bandung City Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Agency, Eric M. Attauriq, explained that the forum produced a number of strategic recommendations.
These recommendations will form the basis for developing an adaptive and sustainable investment roadmap for Bandung City.
"Through the intensive discussions we have held, we have not only developed policy recommendations but also built a shared understanding to address various regulatory challenges, achieve legal certainty, and develop an investment roadmap for Bandung City that is inclusive and adaptable to global developments," he said.
Eric hopes that the resulting recommendations can be translated into concrete steps to strengthen the regional investment climate.
Sustainable investment growth is expected to create jobs, increase community income, and strengthen the competitiveness of Bandung City.
